This traditional cache is set at Westmill Wind Farm near Watchfield. The five huge wind turbines will provide 2,500 homes with electricity.
Each tower is 49 metres high, topped by a nacelle containing the generator, gearbox and other operating equipment. Each generator is driven by a three-bladed propeller, with each blade measuring 31 metres.
The blades start turning when the wind speed reaches 3 to 5 m/s. bizarrely, in high winds, the blades stop rotating to prevent damage.
You can approach the cache from the south, which is a shorter walk.
The more 'scenic' route to the cache is from Coleshill. If you do, you could complete one of my other caches, The Best Ale? On the way!
Please ensure you hide the cache so it can't easily be seen. Don't forget, the reason these wind turbines are here is because it can get a bit windy!
