The A30 is the backbone of Cornwall. Over the years, road
'improvement' schemes have altered its course, bypassing
significant sections of the 'old' road. It's surprising how many of
these orphaned bits of the old A30 there are in Cornwall.
The trip from Land's End to the county border (Dunheved Bridge),
is about 80 miles. Up to 50 miles of which can be travelled using
about 18 to 20 sections of the old A30. And I'm sorry to say that I
think they have all been bypassed in my lifetime!
The Launceston bypass was completed in March 1976. It left an
almost four mile section of the old A30 that runs from Liftondown
(just the Devon side of the county border), through Launceston.
Polson Bridge marks the county border, where the old road
crosses the Tamar. The cache is located less than a mile from
Polson Bridge - on the Cornish side of course!
There's a lay-by nearby, so parking should be easy for this
cache-n-dash.
You're looking for a small 0.3ltr plastic container of the
typical lock top variety. It's at eye-level(ish).
There's only limited space for TBs.
