Wild Thing Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Runninrabbit: After 6 years, 18 favorite points, and 637 visits, I am archiving this cache. One of my favorites, but the upkeep on this is just too much for living an hour and a half away from it. We had a good run, and thank you to all who came and visited.

UPDATE 9/1/09: The cache location has been slightly changed. It is a little easier to find but the difficulty is still a 3 due to the high muggle traffic. Hopefully this will help prevent container breakage. Please be gentle and replace as found.

Welcome to Wildwood! Enjoy your stay. I hope it finds you feelin rummy!

UPDATE May 30th 2010:
The Wildwoods' Doo Wop architecture was named one of AOL's "Ten Architectural Wonders of the United States" for 2010. The Wildwoods are home to the largest concentration of mid-century Doo Wop architecture in the country.
"Words can't describe how honored we are to be listed among the nation's top architectural wonders. Our unique Doo Wop heritage is a major part of the Wildwoods experience," said John Siciliano, Executive Director for the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Authority. "Being recognized by America Online is a tribute to everyone on our island who works hard to preserve and maintain the architectural heritage that helps define the Wildwoods."

The Wildwoods Doo Wop District is home to the largest concentration of preserved mid-century Doo Wop architecture in the country. The many original, preserved Doo Wop style hotels found in the Wildwoods, along with newly constructed properties designed to replicate the architectural designs of the 1950s and early 1960s, feature plastic palm trees towering over kidney shaped pools, angular roof lines and bold neon signs touting whimsical names and flamboyant themes - giving each building its own individual character and providing the Wildwoods with one of the country's most unique "Architectural Wonders."
Also check out the Viet Nam Veterans Memorial and Doo Wop Museum across the street!

Update 2012: Received permission to place cache by the city of Wildwood. Do not try to find this cache after the boardwalk is closed. You will be fined and I will be forced to to remove my favorite cache.

2013: Moved to a different letter. See hint for more info.
