You will need some mathematical skills to decifer the coordinates of the cache hidden on the North campus of NMMU!
The cache is hidden in a plastic cylinder (about 70mm in diameter) and about 250mm long. It is hidden close to the laboratories of the Department of Mechanical Engineering on the North Campus. There are various laboratories (ranging from Robotics to Thermodynamics) and you are welcome to contact Karl du Preez on 082 575 1821 or karl.dupreez@nmmu.ac.za if you want a tour of the laboratories. You can park close to the given coordinates (although there is parking closer to the actual cache). There is no need to enter the buildings. You will need to decifer the following riddle in order to get the co-ordinates of the cache: A man wanted to get into his work building, but he had forgotten his code. However, he did remember five clues: 1. The fifth number (e) plus the third number (c) equals fourteen. 2. The fourth number(d) is one more than the second number (b). 3. The first number (a) is one less than twice the second number. 4. The second number plus the third number equals ten. 5. The sum of all five numbers is 30. What were the five numbers (a,b,c,d and e)? Use the answers to solve the coordinates. The format of the coordinates is in decimal, see link above (other conversions): S 34.0[c+d-a-b][c-b]000° E 25.[c][a]0[d][a][e+c-d]° Watch out for student muggles!!
