Geocache Description:

Fairly easy cache, slightly uphill. Should take no more than about an hour. OK for sturdy prams and bikes, not suitable for wheelchairs.

This cache can be approached from different directions, but the best way is to park at N 50° 41.813 W 002° 25.065. Follow the sign Dorchester ¾ up hill. You will end up on top of Conygar Hill. From here you’ll have a good view over Dorchester (Durnovaria). You’ll come accross two Bronze Age burial mounds (tumuli). The cache is a standard size ammo box. Near the cache you will see some barbed wire. There is no need to climb over this, there is a way round it.

After finding the cache, you could retrace your steps, but you could also walk on until you see a style on the left (N. 50° 41.908 W 002° 26.024). Climb the style and walk down the hill back to the road. On the other side of the road you'll see some remains of Winterbourne Farringdon Village. The east gable end of St German's Church remains as the only upstanding part of the site. Turn left and follow road back to the parking. There are lots of deer around and especially around sunrise and sunset they will be easy to spot. Enjoy!
