Há muito, muito tempo, viveram neste local dois irmãos, muito
pobres que nada mais tinham a não ser um poço e uma pequena casa.
Trabalhavam duramente nas magras terras de xistos existentes nos
cerros onde apenas crescem estevas, tojos e algumas ervas nas
umbrias dos barrancos mais fundos.
Os dois irmãos nunca se deram bem: quando um dizia pão, o outro
dizia queijo, quando um dizia água o outro dizia vinho e os seus
dias passavam-se em eternas discussões e grandes
guerras.
Num dia, uma grande tempestade abateu-se sobre a região e à hora do
almoço, os dois irmãos falavam sobre o que tinham visto durante a
manhã onde um dizia que as água da Ribeira de Oeiras já galgavam as
do rio Guadiana enquanto o outro lhe chamava mentiroso. Irritado, e
enquanto pegava no pequeno pão que estava em cima da mesa
improvisada com duas tábuas de pinho, respondeu ao irmão: “Se não é
verdade o que eu estou a dizer, que Deus nos transforme já em
pedra.”
No ano seguinte, quando começaram a aparecer as primeiras flores de
primavera, surgiram no local duas pedras onde antes existia a casa
deles. Diz o povo que as pedras representam os dois irmãos, e a
pequena pedra entre eles o pequeno pão. Conta ainda a lenda que
colocando a cabeça entre as duas pedras se ouve o repicar dos sinos
do convento de Mafra. |

At a long, very long time ago, lived in this place two brothers,
very poor who nothing more had then a well and a small house. They
work hard in the leanness of land schists found in hills where only

stone."

flowers of spring, at the site where was the house of the two
brothers, two stones with a small one in between. Tell the people
that the stones represent the two brothers and the small stone
between them the little bread. The legend also says that putting
your head between two stones you hear the bells of the Mafra
monastery. |

ser feitos de carro, bicicleta ou a pé. É muito fácil chegar ao
local final da cache, a dificuldade indicada é relativa a uma
pequena “escalada” de cinco metros, no entanto quem for de carro
pode estacionar a cerca de 20 metros da cache. |
