Jørpeland 2 Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

cervisvenator: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,
Cervis Venator

Geocache Description:

Close the river

This cache is located near the bank of the Jørpeland river where it runs out in the ocean. The cach is a plastic container with a blue lid wrapped in a transparent plasticbag. It contains a logbook, pen, a deck of cards and some stickers.

This plase, called Vågen, is a nice harbore for small leasure boats, and its also the endstation for the bus from Tau. There is also a fast ferry route from here and directly to Stavanger. In former time (1950-60) this used to be the main center of Jørpeland. The center is now further up the hill, and is quite big. Jørpeland has recently been given status as a city and has about 5500 inhabitants. The main occupation used to be at the steelfactory where almost everybody here worked. Today many people is commuting to Stavanger mostly working with the oil business.
