Geocache Description:

Set in a scenic valley this area has a fascinating railroute and historic road route, with a beautiful river running through it.

With the mountains and valleys posing difficult obstacles, the railways had to introduce switchbacks at which trains had to stop and shunt on this route to get through.

This route was last used around 1992 when the annual train race was held from Lady Grey to Barkly East. Sadly the train derailed and some lives were lost.

Park on the eastern side of the road bridge(R58), scramble down to the railway and make your way along(approx 300m) until you reach the old road to the old bridge. Please avoid entering the farmer's land, although there's a fence at the bridge to climb through.

The cache is near a solid old stone bridge built in 1899 on the ox-wagon route. Take a moment to enjoy the river running through.
