Diese altkanarische Siedlung ist eine archäologische Fundstätte.
Die Häuser liegen am Fuss des 88 Meter hohen Berges Atalaya
inmitten eines Lavastromes, der sich vor über 10.000 Jahren durchs
Tal wälzte. Geschickt nutzten die Ureinwohnder die natürlichen
Blasen und Einbrüche im Lavagestein, um ihre casas hondas
(tiefe Häuser) halb in den Boden zu versenken und vor dem
einfallenden Wind zu schützen. Als Baumaterial verwendeten sie
ausschliesslich lose Steine, die sie fugendicht zu kreisrunden
Mauern aufschichteten.
This is an archeological site near the mountain Atalaya.
The natives built their casas hondas (deep houses) half into
the ground to prevent them from the wind. As construction material
they used nothing but lava stones to stack round walls.
