This event will take place at Okinawa's premier site --
Shureimon gate.
The event starts at exactly at 10:00 AM, and ends promptly
at 10:15 AM Japan standard time. During the event attendees
MUST sign a log, meet & greet other attendees, and
pose for the mass geo-photo to claim attendance. Exchanging of
trackables, teaming up for additional caches, and other
geocache-related activities are of course allowed & expected.
Attendees must not officially arrive early, nor depart late.
Timing is everything, as we only have 15 minutes. Although there is
no access fee to get to Shureimon, parking fees at the castle park
are 310 yen for small vehicles and 940 yen for large passenger
vehicles.
Why? Because, I've decided to mark my fifth year of
geocaching hosting something a little unusual. Overall, the choices
for this style of event are to host it 10 May at 1000 (based on the
originating event). The other option is for 11 May at 0200 (in sync
with 10 May 1000 UTC-7). It does sound interesting, but really
an event at 2 AM?
So the idea is that flash mob attendees show up at exactly the
same time, make a scene, and within just 15 minutes part ways. This
usually confuses everyone else in the area. And leaves them
wondering what just happened. In our case, timing may also be in
our favor too. As we will be one of the first few kicking off WWFM
2008!
The course of events:
- Prior to 1000, everyone please muggle about other areas. Or you
could take your time making your way toward the event
coordinates. The idea is to keep the event area free & clear
before the event.
- The starting signal will be when your GPSr time reads 1000JST.
At that time the cache container will be placed in the open. The
cache logs will go out first-come-first-served to officially start
the event. It is also highly recommended to bring your own pen
(just in case).
- At 1005, everyone will group together for some photos with
their GPSr in hand and Shureimon as our backdrop. We may even
get lucky and find a couple of nice Okinawan ladies in kimono to
pose with us!
- Next at 1010, we will be served our meals & find out who is
FTF! Good luck, as making FTF for the event will be totally by luck
of the draw.
- Finally at 1015, the cache container is hidden and everyone
departs the area to go about the rest of their day.
Congratulations to LARCjpn as FTF winner!
All 30 event attendees stand tall!
Those who had time to share a few more minutes & enjoy some
beverage.
