Geocache Description:

This cache is in three parts once you have solved the clue. You only need to travel approximately 3 miles from start to finish. There is limited parking near each clue, please don’t park in passing places or block farmer’s gates.

To complete this cache you will need wellington boots (unless you are prepared to get your feet wet) plus strong footwear and a torch.

The above co-ordinates only provide you with a parking place for your pirate ship (car). You must solve the following code to enable you to begin the treasure trail.

ZLG . ZZ * hS

LZi . Gh * Zoo

A long long time ago when the Kentmere hills formed part of the coast, the seas often brought pirate ships to Kentmere. There have been many tales of hidden treasure but until recently they have always been thought of as wild stories. Not long ago clues were found by the Bog Bears, to the hiding place of a chest of treasure, which was full of valuable swaps. The treasure would be easy to locate except that Pirate Black Bart also found out about the booty and may have moved the hoard from its original hiding place.

Once you have calculated a set of co-ordinates from the above code you will be able to find the Crow’s Nest of a part sunken mast of an ancient ship, from here you need to take 25 paces north along the (tarmac) deck to the Captain's Chair. If you do not find a large (regular) treasure chest (and log book) here you know Pirate Black Bart has been already and moved the treasure, but he will have left you a clue in a small box.
You will know you are onto the trial of treasure as some of the hoard may have been left here. (Please leave this treasure in the box; you will be able to collect your reward later)
You must then use the information from Crow’s Nest to find Pirate Island were they tale says pirates often hid their booty.

You can only get to the island if the river is NOT in spate, DO NOT attempt this part of the adventure if the river is high as crossing to the island can not be done safely. You will need your best pirate boots (wellies) to reach the island. You may have been beaten again by Pirate Black Bart. If so, collect another clue from a small container to help you find your way to the Old Pirate Cave.

This cave is on right to roam land and has no path to it; entry is via an old gate. The terrain is steep and slippery. You should not attempt this without strong footwear. You will need a torch to find the treasure chest. Please mind your head on the entrance to the cave and remember the low part on you exit or you will bump your head. The descent from the cave is also tricky and slippery – you have been warned.

This tale is pure fantasy (maybe) and we hope you enjoy the story and the treasure. Please take a piece of treasure with you; all swaps should be gold, silver, coins or jewellery.
T.B’s and Geocoins are most welcome by the Pirates.

We hope you find the hoard before Pirate Black Bart moves it again!

Good luck is needed and lots of fair weather!!!!
