Geocache Description:

In January of 2008, dhbaird placed this vacation cache* on Orient Beach and a little later was adopted by RetiredGuy. At the time, it was placed under the front steps of a famous restaurant called Baywatch or more affectionately Andy and Cheryl’s.

The restaurant along with the others in the area were heavily damaged in Hurricane Gonzalez in 2014. Though they were temporarily repaired, in June 2015, they were all demolished and new construction began. In 2016, the restaurants reopened but unfortunately Andy and Cheryl’s was not one of them.

Orient Beach is a mile and a half stretch of beautiful white sand on the northeast shore of St. Martin. Blocked by a reef and Green Cay, Orient Bay is a very popular spot for swimming, wind surfing, kite boarding, parasailing, jet skiing, sailing and people watching. All along Orient Beach are restaurants and beach bars that serve wonderful lunches and rent chairs and umbrellas. A word of caution / interest: the very southern end of the beach is clothing optional and cameras are strictly forbidden.

* Groundspeak recommends that you do not hide a geocache while traveling. Vacation/holiday caches are usually not published. Geocache owners must visit their caches to maintain them. Log books fill up, cache contents get wet, or the cache can disappear. If you live far away from your cache, timely maintenance is impossible. It’s best to place physical caches in your usual caching area.
