Ronald McDonald #1.

Ronald McDonald Barnfond är en fristående, icke vinstdrivande stiftelse, som vill ge barn, ungdomar och deras familjer extra stöd och omtanke. Fonden grundades 1990 och har finansierat byggandet av tre Ronald McDonald Hus, där hela familjen kan bo under den tid barnet behandlas på intilliggande universitetssjukhus. Fonden har också finansierat ett femtiotal lekrum på barnmottagningar runt om i landet och skänker pengar till medicinsk forskning kring barnsjukdomar.

Ronald McDonalds Hus, Huddinge
När barn och ungdomar behöver specialistvård innebär det ofta många mils resväg hemifrån. Att ha ett svårt sjukt barn förändrar tillvaron för hela familjen. Ronald McDonald Hus har byggts för att ge dessa barn och ungdomar möjlighet att bo tillsammans med sina föräldrar och syskon i en trygg och hemlik miljö. Här finns inga vita rockar eller långa korridorer. Familjerna sköter sig själva, lagar sin egen mat och umgås, som hemma. I Husen finns det alltid någon att dela sina upplevelser med, eller ro att vara för sig själv. Att under svåra perioder ha ett hem hemifrån gör vardagen litet lättare för hela familjen. 1993 invigdes Sveriges och Nordens första Ronald McDonald Hus vid Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset i Huddinge. Huset har plats för 14 familjer.

Ronald McDonald #1.

Ronald McDonald’s children’s fund is a free and none profit foundation, which would give children, youths and their families extra support and care. The foundation was established in 1990 and supported the building of three Ronald McDonald houses, where the whole family can stay during the time the children is on therapy in the nearby hospital. The found has also supported around fifty playrooms at hospitals in Sweden and donates money to medical research on childhood illnesses.

When children and youths need specialist care, it is often far away from home. To have a seriously ill child changes the whole existence for the whole family. These houses have been built to give these children and youths a chance to live together with their parents, brothers and sisters in a safe homelike environment. Here are no white coats or long corridors. The families take care of themselves; they cook their own food and live like at home. There is always someone in the houses to share experiences with, or find peace on their own. To have a home when you are far away at difficult times, makes life a little easier for the whole family. In 1993 the first Ronald Mc Donald house in Sweden and in the Nordic countries was built at Karolinska Sjukhuset, Huddinge. The house has room for 14 families.
