When a cache is archived, what happens to the box? Well, unless someone goes and collects it, it just becomes litter. So we thought we would collect the box from the archived GCRP73 - Hutton Roof and recycle it into a new cache.
Since the box is in good nick we have simply moved the whole thing to a new area on the crags. If the owner ever resurfaces they could always pick up their box and reinstate their cache at the old site. Meanwhile, cachers can continue to find the box.
The cache is in one of the nicest areas of Hutton Roof. It is very open and near the top of the 'roof' so it provides excellent views. Well worth visiting. Further on is the trig point for those who like to bag them. A nice twisty path from here past Lancelot 3 cache: Green Chapel. GC5TCXZ
It is a great area just to explore, but if you want some guidance of which small tracks to follow, see the waypoints below. The main hazards up here are twisted ankles on the limestone glints and grikes - so take a little care as you move around, particularly if going 'off-path'.
The cache is east of the main summit cairn, in a small hollow, tucked into a 2ft high curved outcrop, behind a 5ft high juniper. Watch out for brambles! Co-ordinates are spot on.
