How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

The cache is hidden in the Crocodile Gorge, about 30kms east of Nelspruit.
Please note that it is not accessible from the N4 highway.

It's hidden on the opposite side of the gorge, and reached from the railway maintenance road which turns off the N4 at the co-ordinates below. If you are doing the Extreme Gorge Hike, it's on the return route after completing the hike.

UPDATE Nov 2012 : The western entrance to the railway maintenance road now has a locked gate, so the only way of getting to this cache is by using the eastern entrance. There must have been some sort of incident there for them to lock the gate (which hasn't been locked in the last 30 years), but we hope that will blow over and things will get back to normal soon.

It's a short, sharp one - you can park within 7m of the cache, and it's hidden in the obvious spot.

You can deduct 1 star if you're athletic.
You can deduct 2 stars if you're athletic and skinny.
You can deduct 3 stars if you're athletic, skinny, and have long arms.
You can add 1 star if you've got a potbelly.
You can add 2 stars if you've got a potbelly and short arms.
You can add 3 stars if you've got a potbelly, short arms, and just completed the extreme gorge hike.

Keep your eyes and ears open, there are hippos along this stretch of river, and they sometimes wander around.
Also, please be careful of snakes - there are lots here.
Use a stick to poke around before sticking your hands into deep, dark holes.....

The cache is a 1.5Lt tupper in a camo bag.
