O vzniku, osidleni a majitelich ranne stredoveke vsi nejsou zachovany zadne pisemne zpravy ani dostatek archeologickych nalezu. Na uzemi obce byly nalezeny pozustatky keltskeho osidleni. Ostroh nad Vltavou, Hradiste nad Zavisti, byl osidlen jiz v dobe kamenne.

Dolni Brezany lies on the south periphery of Prague, on upland hemmed by the Vltava River and the Zaluzanka Brook (Brezansky Brook) which flows through the village. The name ‘Brezany’ suggests the village’s location, Brezany means the ‘village of people living on the bank’.

There are no written accounts of a settlement or owners of the medieval village or a significant number of archeological discoveries. However, the remains of a Celtic settlement were found in Dolní Brezany’s municipal territory. The promontory on the Vltava river, the oppidum ‘Na Zavisti’, was settled during the Stone Age. Celts came to our area at some time during the 5th century BC. In the middle of the 2nd century BC the construction of the biggest Celtic oppidum in our country began with a total area of 170 hectares. It was probably the Celt's political and administrative centre. Its ramparts were 9 km long and enclosed the hills Hradiste and Sance, separated by Brezany Valley.

The first written account of Dolni Brezany dates from the year 1332 when Brezany was bought by Prague patrician Menhart Olbramovic from Eklim Goldner's inheritors. A fortress was situated on the site of the current chateau. It included the prism tower which is now part of the west frontage of the chateau above the entry gateway. Part of the original fortress walling can also be seen being included in the west wing to the left of the chateau entry.

Dolni Brezany had many owners. In 1715 it was bought by the Archbishop of Prague Frantisek Ferdinand, Count of Kunburk who merged Brezany's earldom with Prague‘s archbishopric earldom (Frantisek Ferdinand acted as an archbishop in Dolni Brezany from 1715 to 1731). Dolni Brezany was under the Prague archbishopric's ownership up until to 1945.

Dolni Brezany owes to it's current name to Pavel Michna from Vacinov, who bought it as ‘Brezany in Jilove’ in 1627. Because he also had Brezany in Neveklov in his earldom, he needed to rename Brezany in Neveklov to Horni Brezany (‘Upper Brezany’) and Brezany in Jilove to Dolni Brezany (‘Lower Brezany’). However, in the middle of the 19th century municipal books referred to the two villages as ‘Oben Brezan’ (currently Brezany Lesany) and ‘Unter Brezan’ (currently Dolni Brezany).

The text was taken from the following web-site: www.dolnibrezany.cz.

As with most of the villages around Prague, Dolni Brezany is also undertaking new building projects. New family houses and new streets are being constructed. The elementary school was completely rennovated and a new kindergarten was built. A new village centre with a square and a large park is also under construction.

Near to the newly built village centre, next to the dominant chateau, starting this first Brezany cache. The whole route is approximately 350 meters long only.
