Park at: N47 56.310 W122 09.470
At one time this as yet undeveloped site, Fobes Hill Park was
destined to be one of two new dog parks situated in Snohomish
County. Due to the small size of the park, lack of parking and
community opposition Snohomish County has shelved that plan,
deciding instead to place the dog park at Fields Riffle Community
Park along the Snohomish River.
The site itself has a long history being the site of the old
Swans Trail School. In fact you can still find the slab where the
old school building once sat inside the confines of the park
boundaries.
However much history this site has, this cache is not dedicated
to the history of the site itself. We may at some time place
another cache here dedicated to the history of Swans Trail School
but this cache in particular is dedicated to our loving German
Shepherd Dog, Orion whose life was lost to us in July of 2007.
This site being situated so close to our home and at one time
destined to be a dog park it seemed a fitting location to place a
tribute to him. One of Orion’s favorite things to do was to travel
to regional off leash areas and cavort and rollick with other
dogs.
Our home and Orion’s grave are situated a few hundred yards from
here and we will keep the cache stocked with dog related items as
often as possible. If you visit this cache with your pet please
give a moment of thought to our dog and leave another dog related
item in the cache. Travel Bugs of any type are always welcome but
ones of a doggy nature would be especially appreciated.
Located within the cache itself are several TB’s and Geocoin’s
that we have collected over the last couple of months of caching
and include Orion’s Soft Bite Floppy Disc TB that is being sent out
for the first time from this location. FTF prize is an un-activated
Travel Bug “Dog Tag”.
This is our first cache placement; please replace it as you
found it. The cache container is an ammo can and is well hidden but
shouldn’t be too difficult. I am setting the difficulty level and
terrain both to 2 initially. Until the park is developed the
location of the cache may require some bushwhacking through a few
blackberries in the summer and the location itself is in close
proximity to a steep a bank. Please do not go down the bank, the
cache is not down there.
Congratulations to kinderhoff for the FTF
