Interstate Commerce - NC Trading Cache Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

J5 Crew: It has been a good run and thank you to all that have participated! Unfortunately, this series sees little traffic and has been difficult to maintain under sole ownership. (A special thank you to all of the NC geocachers who have stepped up over the years to keep this one going!) I have made arrangements with a NC geocacher to possibly resurrect this series later this year. The plan would be to publish new caches in easier to maintain and less remote locations, 2 owned by the NC geocacher and 2 owned by me in CA. Stay tuned...

(Please note that the 4 hidden caches in this series will be retrieved and recycled!)

Geocache Description:

This is a puzzle cache. The cache is not at the posted coordinates! The cache is located somewhere in Orange or Durham county, but not at the posted coordinates, which would place you right in the middle of the Interstate 40/Highway 15-501 interchange. Please do not look for the cache at the posted coordinates!

With the encouragement of several of my North Carolina caching friends, I have placed this cache series inspired by the “Peace Arch” international cache series (GCG7TA in British Columbia and GC15VGQ in North Carolina).

Like Peace Arch, this is a two-part North Carolina cache working in tandem with a two-part California cache.

Unlike Peace Arch, there are no quizzes to take in order to find the first part! The first part is simply a traditional cache - visit Interstate Commerce - NC. At the first cache you will find a laminated card with the coordinates for the California trading cache. Once you have the California trading cache coordinates, you will need to team up with a partner from California to trade for the North Carolina trading cache coordinates. Here’s how you should make the trade:

  • Look below on this cache page for any notes posted by a California geocacher requesting a partner to exchange trading cache coordinates. If you find someone, send them an e-mail via geocaching.com and propose a trade.

  • If there are no posted notes below, post one yourself on the counterpart trading cache page in California, Interstate Commerce - CA Trading Cache. Hopefully, someone who needs a partner from North Carolina will read your note and contact you. Once you have found a partner, please remove any partner seeking notes you have posted on the California trading cache page. This will keep the needless contact frustration level down, as well as clutter. Outdated notes will be removed by me.

  • If you have waited for 2 weeks without finding a partner, contact me and I will provide you the North Carolina trading cache coordinates.

Please do not post the trading cache coordinates on any of the Interstate Commerce cache sites and please rehide the cache exactly as found or better! Have fun, good luck, and let the trading begin!
