St.Mary's
Number 76 in the
series is St Mary in Chalk. The church is Norman in origin, but much
rebuilt. In the twelfth century a north aisle was added and the
arcade from the nave shows the typical simple pointed arches that
were cut through the existing wall. A hundred years later a south
aisle was built, but this was demolished in 1759. The circular
pillars that supported this arcade, as opposed to the rectangular
piers opposite, may be clearly seen both inside and out and add
much to the character of the church.
The initial
coordinates are not for the cache but for car parking. If the car
park is closed there is space for a few cars outside of the
church.
The final position of
the cache is at N 51° 25.(D-A)(C-A)(D+A) E 000°
25.(B-F-A)0(C+E) which is revealed by solving the following
clue.
N 51° 25.581 E
000° 25.210 - In loving memory of Colin Boston - ABCD to
E00F.
The cache has a log
book but no pen so please bring one with you.
If any body would
like to expand this series please do, I would just ask that you
could let sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the
Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
