Geocache Description:

The cache has been placed to mark the anniversary of one of the country’s most notorious crimes

On the evening of 6th December, 1995, three members of the Essex underworld, Pat Tate, Tony Tucker and Craig Rolfe, drove a Range Rover up an unmade country road in Rettendon, supposedly to meet someone to carry out a drug deal.
The following morning, a local farmer found all three still in the vehicle, dead from shotgun wounds.
The subsequent media coverage and trial gave the killings instant “urban legend” status. Anyone remotely connected to Essex claimed to know someone, who knew someone, who went to the pub with…blah, blah, blah…
Much has been written about this case, further mixing fact with myth, and at least one best selling film - “Essex Boys” starring Sean Bean, has been released.
Some of the actual people around at the time have voiced their opinions that the authorities have got it wrong, and that the wrong men have been found guilty of the crimes.
Look it up, and read for yourselves the accounts, and the doubts surrounding the crime, court case, and now the appeal to get the case reopened.

The cache is placed at the exact spot that the Range Rover was found. Though nowadays, need for a car park for the adjacent boot sale has widened the road, and changed it almost beyond recognition.

The cache is in a temporary container (about the size of a film canister) until a more appropriate one arrives. So let’s see if you can find it without hints

Note – to find the cache, you do not need to climb over any gates, or cross any fields, all of which are private property.
The gravel lane can be seriously muddy in winter months.
Update - Relocated approximately 50m from gates
