A film canister Cache & Dash at a Railway Station...or at least, it would have been 50 years ago!

There is a small item for the FTF to collect.

About SideTracked

We have Motorway Mayhem. We have A-Road Anarchy (cos there aren’t many Motorways in Wales!). But what about public transport users? SideTracked Caches are intended to provide quick Cache-and-dashes at Train Stations.

It is hoped this idea will spread across the country in the same way as the MMs….but if hiding one PLEASE BE SENSIBLE and remember that in this day and age, public transport is under greater scrutiny than ever before, so, although these caches should be quick and easy grabs, PLEASE don’t place a Cache where it could cause alarm!!!

But this one's a bit different...

...well, it is the 50th SideTracked!!!

If you've been SideTracked in Salford Priors, then I'm afraid you've missed the last train...by about 45 years!!!

Kind Dr Beeching relieved Salford Priors of its railway link in 1963, some 100 years after it was first built. Salford Priors was a station on the Barnt Green to Ashchurch line. You can find more information about the short-lived "Gloucester Loop" at Subterranea Britannica.

Salford Priors station is now used as offices for Alamo, which can be seen from the Cache site. The railway's path near here is followed quite closely by the path of A46 trunk road which cradles the village, and parts now form footpaths around the village. Further North the A441 also follows the line of the old track near Redditch.

Congratulations to Delta68 - First To Find on 26/11/07 - 40 minutes after publishing!!!
