Geocache Description:

You are looking for a small camouflaged container hanging from a tree limb about 4 feet off the ground. It contains a log, wooden pencil, and a FTF dollar. The cache needs to be bushwhacked about .67 miles.

Minnesota Geocaching Association

This cache was placed to help with the Confluence Cache Challenge -- Minnesota Style by King Boreas. After spending many hours wandering around in a cedar swamp knee deep in water my wife, dog and I finally arrived at the confluence and thought how are we going to find our way out of this mess. My wife stopped talking to me hours ago and the dog kept chewing on my leg. Fortunately, I had taken a reading half way in when the going got really bad and felt confident that my GPS could get us halfway out and then the force would have to take over. Cedar swamps are very dark but I had a special flashlight endorsed by Momandson so was able to light up that swamp. About 200 feet from the half way point the batteries gave out in my GPS, the force led me in the wrong direction. We were hopelessly lost. My wife must have sensed the problem and suggested we put in the camera batteries. My GPS was back on the job and several hours later we found the car. I would not suggest that any sane person even attempt this cache, it is in the middle of one of the biggest swamps in Minnesota and is too small for this location. Realizing this I tied my blue GPS strap around the cache to help locate it. Lessons learned: When in unfriendly territory always set a waypoint at the car, don’t lead the wife to believe it will only take a couple of hours, batteries-batteries-and more batteries, and always carry a good flashlight.
