Polly's Potpourri Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Run&Hike: Sure enough, GZ was covered in new mulch and the container was gone!
We inquired inside but nobody had seen it, but then a maintenance man said he knew about it and offered to dig through the mulch to be sure it was gone.
Seeing it was gone we gave him our card and were leaving when we heard...
"Is this it?" He had found it in a large decorative trash container about twenty-five feet from GZ.
Sigh... We had labeled it, in large print, "Geocache""Don't Remove""Permission: Hartley Hall""GC1788G 'Polly's Potpourri'" but apparently should have added, "Don't throw away!"
The contents were missing and the container latch was broken, so since the residents, staff and administration have all changed since we hid it for Polly's enjoyment, it's time to retire it.
Thanks to the more than two hundred cachers that visited, especially those who wrote the friendly greetings on the index cards that we posted on the Nursing Home bulletin board.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

The cache is hidden at a nursing home by permission of the Administrator and with the knowledge of the Staff and residents. Caching is permitted only between 8am and 8pm.

It was placed by Run&Hike on behalf of their mother, Polly, a resident who, during her lifetime, accompanied Run&Hike on many of their caching adventures.

Because the residents love children, this is an easy, child-friendly cache with no bushwhacking, so please be respectful of landscaping.

This is a large storage box containing trade items for children and adults, and has room for TB's to rest in their journey.

Please park only in designated parking spaces. Be stealthy when visitors are arriving and leaving, but be sure to smile and wave to the residents and Staff.
