PT: Já no início do séc. XVI que a irmandade neste local,
na ermida de Na. Sra. da Guia, acendia luzes em azeite para auxílio
aos navegantes. Esta ermida foi construída em 1523 em terras doadas
por D. Luiz de Castro, senhor de Cascais.
EN: In the beginning of the 16th century the brotherhood in
this place, Nossa Senhora da Guia, used to light some olive oil
lights to help the sailors. The chapel was built in 1523 over lands
donated by D. Luiz de Castro, lord of Cascais.
PT:Com o terramoto de 1755 esta ermida e a torre ficaram
muito danificadas, sofrendo grandes obras de reconstrução.
EN: The 1755 earthquake destroyed the tower and the chapel,
after which it was rebuilt.
PT: No séc. XIX a torre foi revestida por azulejos
brancos, revestimento que foi renovado em 2003.
EN: In the 19th century the tower walls were covered with
white tiles, renewed in 2003.
PT: Em 25 de Setembro de 1879, o farol é dotado de uma
óptica de tambor de Fresnel, de 3ª ordem, com um candeeiro a gás
produzido do petróleo. Este seria substituído por um de duas
torcidas em 1897.
EN: In 25th September 1879, the lighthouse is changed to
Fresnel optics, with a gas lamp.
PT: Por motivo da Primeira Grande Guerra Mundial, este
farol esteva apagado entre 1914 e 1918.
EN: The lighthouse was off between 1914 and 1918, due to the
First World War.
PT:Sendo subtituído em 1938 por um eclipsor a gás, é
electrificado em 1957. Em 1982 é automatizado, sendo controlado na
central em Paço de Arcos.

electrified in 1957. In 1982 it's automated, controlled in Paço de
Arcos.

A Cache / The Cache
PT:Por o farol não estar acessível ao público, a cache
foi colocada nas imediações da entrada para o farol. Como habitual,
pedimos que sejam discretos na procura e que a deixem encondida
como a encontraram.
EN: As the lighthouse is not opened to public access, the
cache was placed near the entrance to it. As usual, we ask you to
be discreet in the search and to leave it well hidden as was
before.
PT:A cache é uma caixa vulgar de plástico de tamanho
médio, dentro de um saco preto, e que contém os objectos
habituais.
EN: The cache is an ordinary medium size plastic box, inside
a black bag, and contains the usual objects.
PT: Foi atribuído o grau 2 de dificuldade, devido ao
local exposto ao público onde se encontra. Por o sinal de GPS
naquele local ser bastante deficiente, devido às árvores e às
paredes, incluímos uma foto "Spoiler".
EN: It has difficult 2 degree due to the public place where
it is hidden. The GPS signal is weak in that place, due to the
walls and trees, so we included a "Spoiler" photo.
