ETD: Dry Lake Overlook 3 Traditional Cache

Medium-clearance vehicle should be able to make the trip.
There are four caches, total, that were placed on this hike into
the desert on this route. Lots & Lots of Rocks (GC173AM)is the
first, ETD: Dry Lake Overlook (GC173AQ)is the second on the route
and ETD: Dry Lake Overlook 2 (GC173AY) is the third. You can drive
within .25 miles of where the cache is located and hike to it, or
you can hike from where I parked near McKinney Butte Lava Flows
(GCJ4JA) and hike the route from there. The round trip is less than
2 1/2 miles to get all four caches. After a winter of good snow
accumulation, this area is covered in a small lake that will last a
good part of the summer and attracts a lot of animals to the area.
In late spring I've seen as many as 80 Antelope feeding and
watering in this area. The water rarely reaches the track road, in
case you aren't up to the hike or just don't have the time to hike
the route. More can be seen by hiking than by driving. During the
spring runoff you will have to make a much longer hike to get to
the cache by finding a place to cross the stream that runs through
here at that time of the year. The rock that hides the cache is
loosely placed and may not stay put; making it extremely easy to
find it. If you find it exposed, please find another rock to hide
the cache. Thanks!
