Since there aren’t many
places that allow night-time access, I have decided to place
an urban night cache. Your biggest challenge will most likely
be muggles, and not looking goofy walking around with a
flashlight.
All of your walking will be on sidewalks or through public
parks. All markers are near ground level to avoid being found by
muggles. All markers are small arrows that will glow white when
illuminated, and will be placed on the bases of lamp posts or other
similar objects. All of the objects are black which will help
camouflage the tape during daylight hours.
The arrows will point in the direction you will need to turn at
the next intersection. An arrow with a small diamond above it
indicates the remaining markers are no longer on lamp posts, and
the final is approaching, and the arrows merely indicate direction
you need to walk. The final is marked with two small diamonds -
there are small triangles pointing in from both sides towards the
final location as a "guide".
The markers may be next to impossible to find during daylight
hours, as they are black until illuminated (and even if you could
see them during the day, wouldn’t that be defeating the whole
purpose of a night cache?). The markers reflect only when the
flashlight is held close to your eyes. A small LED type flashlight
is all that is required - you do not need a large flashlight!
At the posted coordinates, you must look around, looking for the
first marker. You will be walking about 1/2 mile to the final.
The final is a nano, so please bring your own writing implement
to sign the log.
Snow Information: Since the markers are at the
base of lamp posts, after a snow it may be difficult or impossible
to see the markers. If the snow piles aren't too deep, you may just
have to be right at the lamp posts to see them.
Claiming FTF: Since I am "premiering" this
cache at the Beer & Wing Night, prior to formal publication, I
am imposing a rule for claiming the "Official FTF". The first
person to find this cache who did not attend the event will be the
only person allowed to claim FTF. Any other claims will be
ignored.
