Do you remember the great arcades of the 1980s and 90s?
This cache is placed near the former
Time-Out Arcade, way back when Cary Towne Center was known as Cary
Village Mall. This was part of a large chain of mall arcades, with
a sign made of brightly-colored arches. This was a very popular
local arcade in the 80s, and was always full of people on Friday
nights and the weekends. They always had a large selection of
games- you might have seen me in there, fixing them when they
broke!
This arcade closed on January 1, 1990, just prior to the mall
renovation. The Time-Out corporation itself was bought out by
Namco, which now controls most of the remaining mall arcades- some
of these still have the Time-Out name. After the mall renovation, a
Cyberstation arcade was located near the middle of the mall, but
even that is gone now. Mall arcades -and arcades in general- are
rapidly becoming things of the past.
Check out the Time-Out Tunnel Virtual Museum!
This cache is in a wooded area very close to the mall entrance
at the old Time-Out Arcade, which was located just inside the door
where the Lens Crafters store is located now. It shouldn't be a
very hard find.
This cache contains a prize for the FTF; however it must all be
spent on arcade games, pool or jukeboxes are also acceptable.

Congrats to
Greyt Joy for finding this as his first cache!
