Geocache Description:

This cache is on a dead-end road that branches off the Cotter Mine Road, overlooking the intersection of Hwy 191 and Hwy 313. The cache is about 1.5 miles from the suggested parking area, and you'll climb about 400 ft.

This cache is on the same road as "We Be Jeep'n" (GCF93D), about a mile past that cache, just before the road/trail ends. As you might guess from the name, we love to walk this trail. We usually choose this route in late afternoon or early evening on hot days in June, after the sun has dropped below the cliffs and most of the trail is in the shade. Today -- a cool, crisp fall day -- we did it at lunchtime, to get the benefit of the sun.

To reach the trail, pull off Hwy 191 on the west side, at the coordinates listed below. This is a very large turnout that has become a popular staging area for 4WD vehicles of all kinds. Drive north on Cotter Mine Road, and turn left (west) at the intersection listed below. There are several choice parking locations before the road starts climbing up the hill; our favorite parking spot is listed below, near a makeshift target-shooting setup.

The trail starts up the hill, turns south, and parallels Hwy 191 for about 1.25 miles before it turns west again and follows Hwy 313. At the cache site, you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of both highways, Seven Mile Canyon, Arches NP, the La Sals, and lots of red rock cliffs.

The cache is a small plastic bottle covered in camo tape. Difficulty rating is based on the fact that my GPS accuracy was only plus or minus 25 ft. You will not have to go more than 25 ft. from the trail (such as it is at that point), and the cache is clearly visible from the correct angle. Original contents include a small bell and assorted hand-made beaded jewelry. Bring small trade items.

Note: As of the fall of 2010, the road is closed to motorized vehicles about half a mile from the suggested parking coordinates, so you should be prepared to walk a round trip of at least two miles.
