This cache has been archived.

_dadgad: Guess its time to shut this one down. Thanks to everybody that participated. We were one of 83 flash mobs worldwide, with over 4000 attendees. Thanks especially to Trainbug and DragonsEar for taking up my slack. See you all at the next event!

Geocache Description:

What will happen when hundreds of geocachers around the world meet at the same time? Will it herald the apocolypse?

This flash mob event is part of a much larger effort by geocachers around the world. At 12 noon, EST, over 20 World Wide Flash Mob (WWFM) events will occur. Come and be a part of this apolyptic event.

We'll be meeting at Columbia, MD town center, under the fountain. The event will last 15 minutes. When we're done, we can all go geocaching, then meet at the MAGC 2007 Military History Commemoration Event (GC161M8) at Fudrucker's.

Update!

Here's the schedule of events.

11:45 -11:59 AM - Participants: Wait patiently and/or stroll around the area. STAY AWAY from ground zero until the signal is given. As much as you can, act like a muggle, pretend not to know each other or give any indication that something is about to happen. At 11:59AM converge on ground zero. The Flash Mob Event has begun.

12:00 Noon - Log sheets will be handed out for those who did not bring their own. Bring your own writing instrument. Sign individual log sheets and drop them in the collection box. Mingle. Trade travel bugs and coins. Share stories. Brag. Take pictures. Make arrangements to meet elsewhere, or to find the various caches in the nearby area.

12:08 PM - The event “banquet” will be served! Since its the end of the world, we'll be serving camo'd Hershey's Kisses, as we slip into survivalist mode.

12:13 PM - Assemble for a group photo, and assemble FAST. Listen to the photographer for directions. Group photo is taken.

12:14 PM - One minute warning is called "It is now 12:14!" Prepare to leave. Prize Drawing!

12:15 PM EXACTLY - Wait for it ... then LEAVE the area (right at 12:15 PM)! Meet elsewhere if desired. The log sheet bucket will be packed up. If the sheet's not in the bucket, you can't log the event.

If everything goes right we will have lots of people coming out of nowhere and gathering for 15 minutes, holding a geocaching event and then disappearing…This will be lots of fun and maybe even raise a few muggle eyebrows!

Update! Update!

The cache bucket is now in the hands of Trainbug, as I'll be away visiting my new granddaughter. Look for the guy with the red bucket. Fun will be had by all!

Be sure to sign a log card and put it in the bucket. Not only for the drawing of an unactivated geocoin, but Sonny and Sandy of podcacher.com will be drawing from all World Wide Flash Mob attendees for a prize from their Podcacher Prize vault. That's worth the price of admission right there! Oh, wait, this is free. Oh well, its a good deal anyway.
