Mosteiro de Santa Clara a Velha - Coimbra
Situado na margem esquerda do Mondego, o Convento de Santa Clara-a-velha foi mandado edificar por vontade da Rainha Santa Isabel. A construção, da autoria do Mestre Domingos Domingues, iniciou-se em 1286, mas só em 1314, D. Isabel obtinha licença papal para fundar o Mosteiro.
Ocupado por freiras clarissas, o Mosteiro havia de ser sagrado em 1330, mas cedo começou a ser afectado pelas inundações do Rio Mondego. D. Isabel de Aragão, que morreu em 1336, foi aqui sepultada. Nesse ano, o Mosteiro ainda acolhia os peregrinos a Santiago de Compostela, mas as cheias do Mondego obrigariam ao abandono definitivo do Mosteiro em 1677.

Situated on the left bank of the Mondego River, the Convent of Santa Clara-a-Velha was built by order of Queen Isabel of Aragon.The construction, undertaken by Master Domingos Domingues, began in 1286 but only in 1314 the Queen would get the licence from the Pope to found the Monastery.Occupied by the nuns of St Clare, the Monastery was sacred in 1330 but soon it became affected by the floods of the Mondego River. Queen Isabel of Aragon, who died in 1336, rests here. In that year, the Monastery was still a shelter for pilgrims who were on their way to Santiago de Compostela but the floods of the Mondego led to the definitive abandon of the monastery, in 1677.

Com esta cache pretendo dar uma especial atenção a este monumento que está a ser recuperado, pelo que infelizmente não é possível a sua visita ao interior, no entanto do exterior podemos observar algumas curiosidades tais como a marca da agua, terra e lama que se encontra na parede exterior que manteve este Mosteiro enterrado durante 4 Séculos!
A cache esta escondida nas imediações do Mosteiro, aproveitem o jardim, e já agora, podem colocar umas fotos nos log´s com a evolução das obras, assim todos ficamos a par da reconstrução!
With this cache I wish to give a special attention to this monument which is being refurbish, unfortunately it isn't possible to visit inside, but from outside we can see some curiosities, as a watermark, sand and mud on the external wall that preserved this monastery buried during four centuries! The cache is hidden near by the monastery, take advantage of the garden... Also you can add some photos to the logs, giving us this way an update about the refurbish.
