Hilton Hotel, Shropshire Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Izzy and the Lizard King: We are sorry to say that we have got to archive the cache.
The ammo box and contents have disappeared completely!
The nearby landowner has been unable to shed any light on it's whereabouts and we can only assume that the fencing work left the cache exposed and resulted in it being muggled. We feel it best not to replace the cache as the location has been compromised and there is not another suitable hiding place nearby.
We would like to thank everyone who visited the cache and apologise to the owners of the TBs and Geocoins that were in residence when it went missing.

Izzy & Paul

Geocache Description:

Welcome to 'The Hilton Hotel for Travel Bugs & Geocoins'. It gives all types of trackables the chance to stop off and take a short break from their travels, experiencing the luxury accommodation offered by ‘The Hilton’. The hotel also has it’s own Card Park where visitors may leave a calling card.

The cache container is a small ammo box but offers comfortable accommodation for visitors and is situated close to the meandering Hilton Brook.

The location can be approached from one of three different directions. The northwest, which offers 24/7 parking in Hilton Village at N52º 33.292 W002º 19.990, The east from Lower Hopstone which has very limited off-road parking available and finally from the north, with restricted parking available, at Grange Farm.

Grange Farm operates a shop that is open Monday to Friday 9-5, Saturday 9-4 and closed Sundays, which means parking is only available during those times. The attraction in parking at Grange Farm is that it has provided access under the ‘Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs’ farm conservation schemes. Please visit this conservation walk link. This walk provides a very pleasant circular route that only requires a short detour from the path to find the cache and may enable you to see a stag, loads of pheasants and some “pigeons”. Occasionally shooting takes place along part of the conservation walk and at these times certain pathways may be closed. These closures do not interfere with finding the cache or compromise walker’s safety.

The cache is hidden along existing rights of way and not the permissive path. It contains a few swaps (NOT for stealing – like towels from a hotel) as well as a selection of trackables. Please ensure that there are TBs and/or Geocoins in residence at all times. The hotel staff will ensure that guests do not outstay their welcome and will move them on periodically.

Due to the close proximity of local residences on the approach it is recommended that the cache is not attempted at nightime and please park with due consideration at all times.

There is a pin badge as a prize for the First To Find cacher along with certificates for the 1st and 2nd to find.

Bonus points will be awarded to cachers who post a photograph of the local pheasants.
