Craighouse Campus Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

roolku: Craighouse Campus has been sold by the University to a developer (see http://friendsofcraighouse.com/ ) and while it is still being used, the first exit signs can be seen. They have now removed the Napier Statue that was part of the cache so I think it is time to archive it. I have picked up the container and rescued the TB.

Geocache Description:

Quick tour of Napier University's Craighouse Campus

The coordinates at the top are of the car park. It is restricted to permit-holders from 8am to 5pm during the week, but afaict available otherwise. LRT busses 17, 23 and 41 serve the campus. The area is only open to the public during daylight hours.

The tour starts at the small gate house, Craighouse Lodge, which is not usually noticed when entering the campus via the main entrance. It is home to the "Knowledge Transfer Partnerships" unit of Napier University. From the sign over the gate you need the first number. [clue A: ?b]

Now it is up the hill. The lawn is popular with adults, children and dogs and on a sunny evening you may be able to find me on one of the benches having dinner or reading a magazine. The coordinates take you to a letter. [clue B: position of letter in alphabet]

Behind you is the probably ugliest building on campus, the "Learning Resources Centre". Right next to it "South Craig" which houses the Business School and looks much more appealing and only a little further "Bevan", prominently perched on the hill. Here you can find the next clue, the first number on the yellow sign. [clue C: H ? 16]

Now the route goes west to a little green pavilion. The building next to it is Queens Craig and houses the "Iain Tomlin School of Music". Take the first number from the lid. [clue D: SWL ?000Kg]

You will notice a sign pointing towards "Craiglockhart Campus" here as it is the start of a footpath that might come in handy if you haven't done the sister cache GC15YXP yet.

The next set of coordinates takes you to a platform/terrace that offers good views north towards the city. It is part of the biggest building on campus: New Craig. The Turmeau Grand Hall inside is very impressive if you ever get a chance to attend a function here. From the sign on the bench you need the last digit of the first year. [clue E: 30.4.7?]

The last stop is a statue of John Napier, polymath and inventor of logarithms. How many lines of text are on the sign on the back of the pedestal? [clue F: number of lines]

The cache can be found at 55°55.(F-E)(B-A)(C-B)'N, 3°13.(C)(D+A)(E+F)'W. The satellite reception is not ideal with the tree cover in the area, hopefully the hint will help. There is no need to move any rocks, so please don't.
