Geocache Description:

Malachi 3:9 - Ye are cursed with a curse ... even this whole nation.

It has been written since the beginning of time that evil, supernatural creatures exist in a world of darkness. And it is also said that none should be feared more than Rutterkin, the wicked wizard Malachi's black cat. To avoid his curse of violent death you should never, ever, look into his eyes." These were the last words of Professor Auguste Balls FRS, FRCP, FSA. And yet that’s what billions of people had just done. The clip, first shown on local RWT news, was now being watched by the whole nation. It showed a large black cat, the size of a bull, walking across a field. As it looked towards the camera you could see its fiery eyes and the picture suddenly turned a dazzling white.

The Professor was an expert on local myths and legends and had recently proved, through an exhaustive study of Homer, that Troy stood, not in Turkey, but on the site of a petrol station on the A14 just east of Cambridge. His warning came during the 50th Annual Oakham Lecture. He never finished his talk and was killed before he could reveal how the curse could be broken. It was a miracle how the combined harvester missed everyone else! The notebook the Professor had referred to during his lecture was shredded as well and a sudden violent wind scattered the pages everywhere. When all was retrieved and reassembled, five pages and one finger remained missing.

Had the curse befallen the Professor?

What was on the missing pages?

Can the curse be broken and the whole nation saved?

There is nothing at the listed co-ordinates. This cache is not for the faint-hearted. Your journey will be long and frustrating and you will need to do some internet research on the way, so don't expect to complete the cache in one day ... if ever! Are you up to the challenge?

This cache is inspired by the works (and film adaptations) of the author M. R. James.
