Welcome to the latest edition of this fine Ottawa area
geocaching tradition! All you need to do is rope yourself a hearty
helping of geocaches over a 24 hour period, then at 6 PM on October
27th hitch your horse at the Lone Star Ranch (4420 West Hunt Club
Road between Moodie Drive and Highway 416) and scare up a
good appetite for some all you can eat Fajitas! That's right
partners, it's the..
Many of you varmints realized at the last event that it was
getting near impossible for us to find a saloon large enough to
hold our ever increasing numbers. As such, starting this time
around an impromptu GAG committee was formed to take the reins from
the legendary Tick & Nammie and try to find us a stompin'
ground large enough for our growing mob. Well we found one, but
this time it's costing us some coin so we need to charge y'all some
dough to get through the door.
You'll get a chance to win some door prizes, so hang on to your
ticket stubs! View the ever growing list of prizes at the
ottawageocaching.com GAG11 listing page.
The usual GAG fun will be available, including the "best ...
cache" voting, the barn busting swag table, the every popular photo
slideshow, and of course the camaraderie of friends. We're working
on some other ideas, so stay tuned to this line...

slideshow? Send your requests to GreyingJay!
OK, it's time to get to the rules of this shindig!:
- Between now and October 26th, hide a cache in the Ottawa area.
Don’t wait until the last minute; give the reviewers plenty of time
to post all caches and our volunteers time to create a bookmark
list. All caches placed for the event will be published on Thursday
evening so you can plan your routes and solve the puzzles.
- You should state on your cache page that your cache cannot be
logged until after 6:00 p.m., October 26th and any logs before then
will be deleted. Please help with cache identification by prefacing
your cache name with GAG11, i.e. GAG11 - The Living Dead -
Cowboy.
- You may want to consider hiding just one cache to keep the work
down for the reviewers. Also, if you're placing a multi-cache
and/or puzzle, but sure to use the "additional waypoints" feature
on the cache creation page to allow reviewers quicker access to
determining boundary limitations. The quicker they can get their
job done, the more likely your cache will get published in time for
the event.
- All geocachers who wish to participate in this event should
head out to find as many caches as they can from 6:00 p.m., October
26th until 6:00 p.m. on the 27th. Don't get caught starting before
6 PM or it's the gallows for you!
- At 6:00 p.m. on the 27th after a LONG day of caching, we will
meet at Lone Star Ranch on Hunt Club West between Moodie Drive and
Highway 416 (posted coordinates).
- It would be great if you could bring a prize along, and if you
will have children with you (or are one at heart), it would be
wonderful if you could bring a kid's prize as well. All kids (big
and small) like to go home with prizes, and they always look
forward to that part of the evening.
- If you have any ideas to add to this event, please send us
an email and we will try to incorporate them. We will do the
photo presentation again, therefore, if you are aware of a photo
that should be included, please send us an email.
- Please post a note on this page indicating if you can make it
and how many will be in your party with a breakdown between adults
and children and the ages of the children, i.e. 5 and under, 5 to
10, etc.
- Please email us if you can volunteer. We will need volunteers
to help with the prize lists, at the door, and with a game if we
decide to do one this time.
- All caches will be listed as a bookmark link on this page just
prior to the event. If you have any questions, please send us an
email.
Happy hiding and seeking! See you on the 27th or on the
trails....
