Blackheart Joe decided to make this hide easier to get to and from
than the island he was marooned on. You'll find the cache less than
50 feet from the trail, a 1/2 mile loop that begins and ends at the
Russel-Colbath House on the Kanc.
A message from Blackheart Joe:
Well, ye landlubbers! Thought you'd seen the last of ole' Joe,
eh? Some of ye may have noticed how I went missin' fer the last
couple 'o months. I've been itchin' to get back to these here
trompin' grounds, but had an unexpected delay.
Ye see, I was marooned! I was takin passage on a ship 'o yer
finest pirates, and their captain got wind o' the fact that I've
got a bit o' treasure hidden somewheres. I wouldn't tell 'em where
to find it, so they left me on a little island, sayin' they'd be
back in a couple o' days to see if I'd changed me mind.
Two weeks later, I can only wager that they got their own and are
now keepin' court with ole Davy Jones hisself! I was in quite a
jam, as they only left me enough vittles for a week's time, so I
had to keep a sharp weather eye out for a passing ship to flag
down. After a month and a pair 'o Sundays of searching the horizon,
I saw a sail! I lit me signal fire, and in a matter of hours, I was
back on me way home!
Blackheart Joe's latest cache is placed in memory of his marooning.
Fittingly enough, you will be searching for a ship full of booty.
