COG Spring Fling IV Event Cache

When: Saturday May 24th , 2008 - 9:00AM until 5:00PM
Where: Tiffin Centre for Conservation - 10 minutes west of Barrie, Ontario
Who: Geocachers, their families (kids too!), dogs
What: Picnic style garthering, Geocaching activities AND CAMPING and much more! Think GEO-Family Reunion!
Cost: $5/Person. Includes Park Admission + Parking + Registration Package . Children under 5 years of age are free!
(all monetary involvment at the event DIRECTLY offsets the costs associated with hosting this event ONLY)

Spring Fling IV marks the first time that Attendees can pre-register for the event's proceedings!

What is pre-registration and why will it benefit me?

New this year is pre-registration! By paying in advance you will be able to fast-track the check-in process. We will provide you with details (coordinates and cache descriptions) for caches prior to arriving at the event, and we will ensure that each paying member of your team will receive our Spring Fling IV gifts! Best of all, you simply pick up your event package at the pre-registration table without having to wait in line!

Have you uncovered a "COG Spring Fling IV " Fridge Magnet?

Hundreds of these fridge magnets have been distributed throughout all of Ontario and Parts of the US in special promotional caches, as well as throughout caches in your neighborhood!

If you have found one of these special SF4 Fridge Magnets, turn it in at "COG Spring Fling IV " to get an extra ticket for the grand prize draw. Only one magnet per Geo-team will be accepted so please don't take them all! If you have more than one, feel free to pass one along to another Geo-team so they can participate too!

Spring Fling Central is awaiting a few special "logs" to the event page. The following will qualify for extra draw prize tickets!

- First to log a "Will Attend" log (who will be attending) from each of the United States of America - Congratulations to 2trux of Ohio!
- First to log a "Will Attend" log (who will be attending) from outside of North America -
- First to log a "Will Attend" log (who will be attending) from each Canadian province other than Ontario -

As in past Spring Flings, there will be an Après Fling pub night to give folks the opportunity to meet and celebrate the day's happenings over a pint and some fine fare before settling in at the campground or heading home. Watch for the event posting. We will be providing the link here when it becomes available.

Remember the first event that you ever attended? Did you feel out of place and feel like you didn't fit into the "Group"?

The Central Ontario Geocachers will again be seeking involvment from interested cachers who wish to be "Mentors" throughout the day. Basically Speaking, Mentors will be approachable and will have knowledge about Geocaching of all degrees. While we find that most Geocachers are friendly and approachable, it takes a special sort of "Someone" to be a mentor. Watch this page for details!

Fine COG Fare

Team Woods Will again be manning the BBQ this year. As always, we expect that their fare will be nothing short of spectacular.

On the menu will be Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Pop, Water and all the fixin's!

The (not so) fine print:

• Any profits made from food and beverage sales will be used to offset the expenses incurred to host COG Spring Fling IV. In the event of a surplus, all remaining proceeds will be used to fund the next COG event.
• Out of respect for the cooks who work there magic like burger machines, we ask that the BBQs be reserved for Spring Fling Lunch Cooking purposes only during the posted lunch hours. Afterwards the grilles will be available to any and all that wish to use them.

Group Camping Details

We have been provided with a special rate for camping at Tiffin Centre. Please see our Spring Fling Event Page for specifics with camping including price, and registration

Anyone wishing to camp will have the opportunity to pay on Saturday morning at event registration.

• Group Camp area is designed predominantly for TENTS. We should be able to accommodate standard "Pop" style trailers.
• Camping is available Friday and Saturday nights only.
• Facilities have been UPDATED since last years event and promise to offer further Accommodation

As in previous years, our Spring Fling event has been sponsored by a number of equipment providers and outdoors businesses including Garmin International, The Ontario Geocaching Association, Canadian Cacher and many local fine establishments and businesses.
