Geocache Description:

This cache is a walk around our home town of Cirencester and is dedicated to that marvellous beast, the sheep, on which the prosperity of Cirencester was founded.

The above coordinates are outside the Parish church of Cirencester, one of the famous “wool” churches of the Cotswolds.
Look up at the tower, the date on the clock = 18AB

Now walk up the market place towards the Fleece Hotel at N51 43.020 W001 57.963, maybe pop in for a swift half at the Baaaa!
How many window boxes are on the front of the hotel? = C

From here continue in the same direction to enter the Woolmarket, where at N51 43.011 W001 57.914 you will find the Ram, the most controversial sheep in town. Can you spot the deliberate mistake? Yes that’s right, it’s a Dorset Horn Ram, not the good old Cotswold breed native to these parts. Apparently the sculptor decided the Cotswold breed wasn’t aesthetically pleasing enough, being as they are great big shaggy things without those nice, curly horns. The date when the statue was unveiled was DE April, 1997.
(If you are doing the cache in the evening and find the woolmarket gates locked, don’t despair, you’ll get another chance to get “D” later, and “E” = G +D)

Walk on past the ram to the other end of the woolmarket and turn left, keep on going and miraculously you will appear again in the market place where you make your way back to the parish church and beyond to Coxwell Street, the narrowest street in Cirencester, where at N51 43.087 W001 58.221 you will find the Baptist Church, a bit of a rowdy place these days but probably quieter in 1651 when it started up, and the Flock here numbered FB.

Continue to the bottom of Coxwell St. and a house called the Woolgatherers, at N51 43.102 W001 58.315. This house was once the property of a rich wool merchant, and was built in the DAth Century.

From here carefully cross the road and follow the sign for the Riverside Walk, where at N51 43.146 W001 58.478 you will find a place for a Dip! It has been here since 1G69.

You can now go on to find the cache at N51 FC.ABA W001 (G-C)E.D(C+C)D.This is a walk of about a mile, although it is possible to drive & park nearer.

Hint: follow the river to N51 43.371 W001 58.405 (where in the field beside the path there is often a nice flock of Jacob sheep) turn left and walk along the side of the main road for a short way, (there is a good path) and take the first public footpath on the left. (if you have a buggy then carry on to the first road on the left.)
