Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the published coordinates which are for another ground altogether.

As the 2007 season draws to its close I thought I would combine my two main interests by setting a series of caches at cricket grounds in Surrey. Cricket grounds are often very picturesque places. Each ground has some personal significance for me. At this ground a couple of years back, I played an innings which I consider was one of my two best in almost 35 years of playing the game. The second puzzle in the series.

To find the cache you need to identify the ground EITHER from the picture clue on the cache background (to be replaced shortly) OR from a famous 19th century match played at the club's ground between a team of eleven players called Mitchell versus a team of eleven players called Heath.

When was the above game played? Answer= 18AB

What is the club's ID number on the play-cricket website (the site is used to record match results by the majority of UK cricket clubs)? Answer= CDEF

When was the club founded? Answer = 1GHJ

The club plays annually against another local club for a trophy which is an unusual object. To find out about the trophy you will find the history section of the club's website a little frustrating, although it does have one piece of useful information. To answer the questions below you need to research the news section of the website from around the time I published the cache. If you convert the letters of the trophy's name into numbers (using A=1, B=2 etc) and add up these numbers, the result is KL.

If you do the same for the name of the club's opponents you will get the result MN.

How much money did the club spend on the original display cabinet for the trophy? Answer = P pound(s).

By what margin did the club win the 1965 match for this trophy? Answer = Q wickets

The cache is hidden at N 51 (C+H).B(J-1)(K-E) W 000 (F-P-1)(2+G+Q-M-A).(L+1)(D+1)N

Happy hunting.
