Geocache Description:

The cache is a white box with 8 cm diameter and 5 cm height hidden at ground level in a wooden hollow next to a tree.

I would be very grateful if -after returning home- you shortly visit my Hungarian web page by clicking on
http://geocaching.hu/users.geo?id=13901 link, to enrich my collection of international flags. THANK YOU!
"How beautiful and how close to us!" - sounded an advertisement running earlier on Hungarian TV. And thousands of Adriatic coast lovers know well what it was all about. Hence a part of this coast once belonged to Austrian-Hungarian monarchy, for Hungarians, going to Fiume, Abbazia, Zara, Trau or Spalato -as they would call Rijeka, Opatija, Zadar, Trogir and Split- is like going home.

Since the last two decades, Adria is becoming a "Hungarian sea", like our Lake Balaton became a "Czech sea" around 1970-1980. Many of us visit always the same place, others go each time to another. Belonging to latter ones, it was for the 16th time I visited the coast when hiding the cache. All together I went and windsurfed almost along the whole Adriatic coast from the Slovenian Piran down to Budva in Montenegro including several islands, too.

I would like to inspire the geocachers to hide their own cache at the place of their unforgettable Adriatic holiday to lure us there, as well.

The cache is located in Petrcane, approximately on the halfway of the Croatian coast, not much far away from the point when the A1 motorway leading from Zagreb to Split comes first closer to sea.

The cache is a small rounded box with 8 cm diameter and 5 cm height, hidden at ground level in a wooden hollow right next to a tree and surrounded by a bush. You can't see it directly since it is wrapped into two plastic bags and covered by leaves.

Regarding the size, only small presents can be placed into the box, e.g. wedding ring, diamond earrings, golden necklace. etc. :-) Do not put in snails, shells (fishes!), CD-s only if carefully folded... :-)

Petrcane is an average fishing village but taking into account the vicinity of Zadar, the picturesque Nin, islands like Ugljan, Pasman, the Kornati archipelago and the National Park Paklenica, it is really a place to spend a memorable holiday.

Getting to the cache:

Leave the Zagreb-Split motorway at N 44°11,3467' E 15° 26,0433' and go towards Zadar. Reaching main road E65 (8) at N 44°11,5518' E 15° 25,5529', turn left and continue your wat towards Zadar until point N 44°7,0473' E 15° 16,0879' where turning left continue to point N 44°8,3603' E 15° 13,7096'. In this crossing, controlled by traffic lamps turn right again and continue straight up to the way down to Petrcane at N 44°11,5918' E 15° 10,7214'. Taking a left turn here, the road leads to the end of the village when you can park at N 44°10,8539' E 15° 9,6789'. Note: If you drive with the help of a Navigator, it is enough to enter the last coordinate as the destination!

Turning left from the parking place, you can go beside the Hotel Pinija to find the cache, turning right you can (and it's worth to) take a walk along the village bay and taste the ice cream at Donat!.

Those who find the cache are kindly asked to write just a short log and -if needed- warn the next-comers to take supplementary paper strips when the last one is close to be full. At first, there were 4 strips of photo-paper, each 4.3 cm wide and 30 cm long writable on both sides, it is useful to take similar one with you for any case. And I would be very grateful to those coming home through Budapest to take with them strips already filled up with the logs and meet me for a glass of rakija!

Sunny weather, nice memories and lucky way home to all, to meet you at the Adria next year again!

Small note on cache maintenance: I would visit Adriatic almost every year. This one is an exception thus I ask anybody who intends to visit this cache to be potentially prepared for a logbook change. Thanks!
