Located near to the South Baldface Shelter and designed to challenge. This is a good dayhike, and also a great place to overnight. The hike in is about 2.5 miles with about 1600 feet of vertical gain.
This microcache is best accessed from a free parking area along Route 113 on the Maine / New Hampshire border. The hike in is somewhat difficult but clearly marked and well maintained.
The free parking area is on Route 113 just a few miles South of where it enters the White Mountain National Forest. (See waypoint below)
The trailhead you want is just North of the parking area on the opposite side of the street. Following the Southern Branch of the Baldface Circle Trail is the shortest route to the South Baldface Shelter and and it will take you within a few hundred feet of the coordinates.
The container is well hidden and about the size of a film canister with log and pencil. GPS signals should not be a problem.

WINTER ... It may be possible to locate this cache with snow on the ground, because winter winds blow away much of the snow that falls in this area. Care should be taken if attempting a late fall, early spring, or winter find, because a small section of the final approach just beyond the shelter is usually very icy and nearly impassible without winter gear such as snowshoes or crampons. Another option would be to find an alternate route which bypasses this short icy section, as the last 200' to the cache is usually ice free even in the middle of winter.
