Looking like a shadow rising in the east, this deep cut in
Krokskogen’s western face is visible from all over Ringerike. The
steep gorge is famously known as Mørkganga (also Mørkgånga,
Mørkegangen etc), and generally rated as one of the most
outstanding spots in all of Oslomarka. A short walk further east
lies the scenic pond of Migartjern, site of
a bonus cache.
This is a very popular destination, reachable via blue-marked
trail. Beware of Ringeriking-muggles. From the suggested trailhead,
visitors can look forward to a very steep climb to the top of the
gorge, 435 higher up. A steel wire and some ropes extend through
the actual gorge, offering support to hikers. If you love the skin
inside your hands, bring friction gloves.
The site may also be visited from above, via the ridge of
Gyrihaugen which hovers in the east. Terrain difficulty rating
applies to visits from below.
The cache is a modified military container, stealth black. It is
secured with camo wire. The cache is darkness themed; black or dark
trading items preferred. The cache has the Dark Mark of the
Moose.
Initial content: Black logbook, black pen, stashnote, dark green
geocaching.com pencil, Brokeback Mountain soundtrack CD, Eliksir
CD, some pens and feathers.
Warnings: The climb up Mørkgånga is not recommended in the
frost season. Beware of lots of loose rocks, very slippery
surfaces, and dangerous vertical cliffs. Stay well away from the
edge if you want to live.
