This cemetery was created as a result of the Zion Baptist African American church that was at this site until 1982. The church was built using the materials from the old Harveysburg Acadamy which had been founded by Dr. Jesse Harvey. Dr. Harvey was one of the first doctors in the newly laid out town of Harveysburg and is believed to be the first abolitionist of Warren County,Ohio. The church was built on the same site as the Academy. Although the church no longer exists, the cemetery still does today.
