Frostsprengung spielt bei Verwitterung im Hochgebirge eine bedeutende Rolle. Gefriert Wasser zu Eis, so nimmt das Volumen um 9% zu. Ist Wasser in dünne Spalten und Risse eines Gesteins eingedrungen, so entwickelt es beim Gefrieren einen enormen Druck. Hausgrosse Blöcke zerbersten, und Steine werden in millimeterdünne Schichten zerlegt. Von der Wirksamkeit dieses Prozesses zeugen die schroffen Grate und ausgedehnten Blockfelder im Hochgebirge.
Deine Aufgabe besteht darin:
- eine solche Formation über 2500m zu erkennen und mit Foto zu dokumentieren
- die Ausmasse der Formation zu schätzen
- die entsprechenden Koordinaten und Höhe im log zu dokumentieren (Bild vom GPS)

Frost wedging plays an important role in decomposition in the high mountains. If water freezes to ice, then the volume increases by 9%. If water penetrats into thin columns and tears of a rock, it develops an enormous pressure when it freezes. House-large blocks burst from the pressure, and stones will split into millimeter-thin layers. The schroffen burrs and expanded block fields in the high mountains are a witness to the effectiveness of this process.
Your task consists of:
- recognizing a similar formation about 2500m away, and recording it with a picture in the log
- estimate the dimensions of the formation
- document the appropriate coordinates and height in the log (picture from GPS)
