Wonderboompoort during 1902
In the Magalies Mountains Wonderboompoort is one of six passages
between the North and South. This was the main passage during the
Voortrekker period and was also used by Louis Trichardt (symbolic
Ossewa trek) on 12 December 1938 for the laying of the corner stone
of the Voorterkker Monument. A blockhouse inside the passage was
used to guard Pretoria before the four Fortresses was build.
The blockhouse during 1902
For the 50 year anniversary of Pretoria it was decided to build
a waterfall as a permanent reminder of the festivities.
