A minha 5ª cache (2ª multicache)!
Escolhi, para a localização desta cache, a
localidade de Torredeita e a sua envolvente. O facto desta
ser a terra onde residem os meus avós paternos (agora só a
minha avó...) foi um dos factos determinantes para a sua
colocação, mas concerteza que não foi o único.
Torredeita é a sede de uma das 34 freguesias do
concelho de Viseu, distando cerca de 12 km da sede de
concelho. A freguesia contava, em 2001, com uma população a
rondar os 1500 habitantes.
Actualmente, a vila (titulo que orgulhosamente gosta
de ostentar) tem vindo a sofrer um grande desenvolvimento, em
grande parte impulsionado pela Fundação Joaquim dos Santos e
pela sua concorridissima Escola Profissional, integrando um
centro Ciência Viva que, entre outras facilidade, conta com
um planetário (!). Também têm vindo a abrir ao negócio
diversos bares, cafés e restaurantes de construção moderna,
para além de outras facilidades de cariz social.
A localidade tem diversos pontos de interesse
histórico, cultural e (especialmente) natural, dos quais se
destacam o Solar do Morgado da Torre, edificado no séc. XVII
e restaurado recentemente; o Lagar de Azeite da Cepeda, que
funciona através da força da água e é um simbolo do passado
de tradição da agricultura comunitária; a Igreja Matriz; o
rancho folclórico e a renda de Bilros.
A cache:
Esta cache irá dar-vos a conhecer principalmente, a
riqueza natural que envolve Torredeita.
O nome de Torredeita provém da contracção das
palavras "Torre de Eita". As margens do rio Eita são,
precisamente, o local que irá dar inicio a esta vossa pequena
aventura.
Estacionem o carro junto à pequena ponte que
atravessa o rio e partam em busca da 1ª cache. Perto da ponte
existe um trilho que dá acesso às margens do rio, tenham
cuidado para não escorregarem!
Se estiver a chover muito não vos aconselho a
tentarem procurar esta cache, pois a corrente pode engrossar
bastante. Se verificarem essa situação, mas mesmo assim
quiserem continuar podem enviar-me um mail a explicar o
sucedido e eu enviar-vos-ei as coordenadas da cache
seguinte.
A segunda cache está num local bastante acessivel,
pelo que penso que não terão problemas em a
encontrarem.
Tudo se complica em relação às duas ultimas caches.
Podem deixar o carro estacionado junto ao local da 2ª cache e
prepararem-se para uma caminhada de cerca de 500 metros. Para
as encontrarem terão de se embrenhar nos luxuriantes bosques
de carvalho e pinheiro. A entrada aconselhada para a terceira
cache está assinalada nos waypoints desta página. Sigam o
trilho que parte daqui em direcção às coordenadas da terceira
cache. As terras por onde irão passar são propriedade da
minha avó, pelo que estão devidamente autorizados a entrar
nelas. Costumamos chamar aquelas terras a "Anta". Desconheço
a origem da designação, pelo que será provável que ainda
contenha vestigios de algum destes monumentos megalíticos. As
terras foram, até à relativamente pouco tempo, utilizadas
para a actividade agrícola, estando actualmente em estado de
abandono, pelo que poderão ter algumas dificuldades em seguir
o trilho...
Chegados ao local da 3ª cache aproveitem para
descansar um pouco à sombra dos carvalhos e olhem em redor. A
pequena casa de granito serviu para guardar alfaias
agrícolas, animais de rebanho (cabras) e coelhos. Até à bem
pouco tempo a linha de alta tensão que passa quase por cima
das vossas cabeças não existia e a parte que hoje vêm sem
árvores já esteve povoada por enormes pinheiros. A cerca de
50 metros daí, na direcção nordeste, por detrás de uma parede
de pequenas árvores e arbustos, corre a corrente de água que
viram junto à 2ª cache.
Já não falta muito para a terceira cache! Metam-se
ao caminho por um trilho quase apagado que passa junto ao
grande carvalho que existe da parte de cima da casa. Sigam
por cerca de 100 metros. Se começarem a ouvir o barulho de
água a correr quer dizer que estão quase lá! Chegaram a um
género de pequeno lago? Óptimo! Estão no sitio certo!

My 5th cache (the 2nd multicache)!
For the placing of this cache i've chosen the
village of Torredeita and its surroundings. The fact that
this is the place were my father's side grandparents live
(now only my grandmother...) was a determinant factor, but,
surely, it was not the only one.
Torredeita is one of the 34 parishes of the Viseu
municipality, beeing 12 kilometers away of it. In 2001 the
parish had a population of about 1500 people.
In the actuality, the village has been suffering a great
development, mainly due the Joaquim dos Santos Foundation and
its concurred Professional School, that integrates a Ciencia
Viva (Living Science) center, wich, among other facilities,
has a planetarium (!). There's also new bars, restaurants that
are beeing open to the public, as well as other social care
facilities.
The locality has many hystoric, cultural and
(specially) natural interest spots. One of the most important
are the Morgado da Torre palace, built in the 17th century
and restaured recently; the Cepeda Oil Mill, wich uses the
water energy to work and is a symbol of the ancient
comunitary agriculture tradition; the main church; the
folclore ranch and the Bilros crochet.
The cache:
This cache will take you to a walk by the natural
richness wich entangles Torredeita.
The name Torredeita has origin in the contraction of
the words "Torre de Eita" (Eita's Tower). The river's Eita
margins are precisely the place in wich you'll gona start
your little adventure.
Park the cachemobile near the small bridge that
crosses the river and go up to find the 1st cache. Near the
bridge there is a trail that give acess to the river's
margins. Be very carefull not to slip!
If there is heavy rain i advise you not to proced
further to find this 1st cache, because the river's stream
can get heavy. If you are in that situation but you liked to
proceed to the final cache, you can send me a mail explaining
that and i will send you the 2nd cache coordinates
back.
The 2nd cache is in a fairly acessible place, so i
think you'll have no problems to find it.
Everything becomes more complicate to get the last
two caches! You can leave the car parked near the 2nd cache
place and prepare to a 500 meters footwalk. To find them
you'll need to get into luxuriant pine and oak woods. The
best entrance to the 3rd cache is marked in this page's
waypoints. Follow the rail that starts here to the 3rd
cache's coordinates. The lands were you're gonna pass are my
grandmother's property, so you're cleared to enter it. We use
to call those lands the "Anta" (dolmen). I do not know the
origin of that designation, but is probable that there are
remains of those megalitic monuments. The lands were, even to
a little time, used to the agriculture, but now they are in
abandoned state, so you may have some difficulty to follow
the path...
In the 3rd cache's place rest sometime bellow the
oak's shade and look around. The small house of granite where
used to keep the agricultural utensiles, goats and rabits.
Even to a little time from now, the high voltage line that
almost passes above your heads didn't existed and the place
that you now see without trees where full of magestic pine
trees. At about 50 meters from there, in the northeast
direction, behind a wall formed by small trees and bushes,
runs the water current that you've seen near the 2nd
cache.
You're almost
there! Enter by an almost erased trail that passes near the
great oak that exists at the top part of the house. Folow it
by, almost, 100 meters. If you start earing the water noise it
means that you're almost there. Do you arrived at a small
pond? Great! You're at the right place!
