Geocache Description:

Located along the Pioneer Ridge Trail at approx 5310 feet elevation. Reaching the cache could take up to 6 hours one way because the ascent is steep. Bring plenty of water. $3.00 parking fee at trailhead. Not recommended for children. Seasonal-June-September

The cache is an ammo can. Contents include a lizard wearing a travel bug, Alaska magnet, Alaska fish stick pencil, moose keychain, log book, pencil, stickers, and a Starbucks gift card.
Difficulty rating is a 2 which, according to the Geocache rating system, means "the average cache hunter would find this in less than 30 minutes".(in less than 30 minutes AFTER reaching the area of the cache, not including the hike). The difficulty is rated 4.5. It's a steep uphill climb of approx 5230 feet elevation in 4.4 miles. (The sign at the top says 4.4 miles to the parking lot. Some guidebooks say it's 6 miles.)The trail is obvious. The cache is located in an area before the peak so you do not need any special equipment or climbing gear. The lower part of the hike is like a jungle and the bugs aren't too bad if you keep moving. Once you get above treeline the view is awesome so bring a camera. Weather is unpredictable in Ak. Bring extra layers and water. Please look at the following websites for comments from other people about this hike.
