Way back in 1999, my Mountain bike riding cousin and I bought our new & still current Mountain bikes. We needed to give them a test. We decided to go touring in the Brindabella mountain range & Namadgi National park. Our first night from Canberra was spent in the wood shed (a small U-Shaped alcove (with a roof)) at the Mt. Franklin Chalet. This was the old green original Chalet.
Alas, the Jan 2003 bushfires totally destroyed this beautiful old masterpiece.
But now, a group of people from SA are building a new modern looking Franklin Chalet. There are also many displays there of the old chalet and what it looked like.
