Breve história

O projecto do metro do Porto surge em 1989 mas é só em 7 de Dezembro de 2002 que é inaugurada a primeira linha, a Linha A (Azul). A cerimónia oficial tem lugar na Estação da Casa da Música, sendo presidida pelo então Primeiro Ministro, Sr. Dr. José Manuel Durão Barroso, cerca de 1000 pessoas acompanharam o dia 1 do Metro do Porto.

Em 1 de Janeiro de 2003 começa a exploração comercial do Metro do Porto, até então todas as viagens foram oferecidas. Uma curiosidade, ás 18h55 de 6 de Março deste ano é feita a validação do cliente 1 milhão.

Em 30 de Março de 2003 é inaugurada a Ponte do Infante, uma obra do Metro do Porto que constitui a sexta travessia sobre o rio Douro entre o Porto e Vila Nova de Gaia.

Em 18 de Fevereiro de 2004 é inaugurado o Funicular dos Guindais, que liga a Ribeira à Batalha, o inicio da exploração comercial dá-se no dia seguinte.

A 17 de Setembro de 2005 é aberta à exploração comercial a Linha D (Amarela), a Linha das Linhas do Metro do Porto.

Short history

The Oporto subway project began in 1989 but was only on the 7 December of 2002 that the first line was inaugurated, the A line (Blue). The official ceremony took place in Casa da Musica Station and it was presided by the then portuguese Prime Minister, José Manuel Durão Barroso, more or less 1000 persons followed day 1 of Oporto Subway.

The commercial operation of Oporto Subway began on the 1st of January 2003, until then all the trips were free of charge. One curiosity, the passenger 1 million was reached at 6.55 PM of  6 of March of this year.

Ponte do Infante bridge a work of the Oporto Subway, was inaugurated on 30 of March of 2003. This is the 6th crossing of the Douro river between Oporto and Vila Nova de Gaia.

Guindais Funicular was inaugurated on the 18 of February of 2004, linking Ribeira to Batalha. The commercial operation started the next day.

Line D (Yellow), the Line of Lines of Oporto Subway started the commercial operation on 17 of September 2005.

A Cache

Para chegarem à cache final vão percorrer uma série de caches virtuais pela ordem de apresentação e responder a algumas questões simples, a cada resposta vai corresponder um valor e um percurso a seguir. O valor obtido em cada resposta será usado para calcular as coordenadas finais.

Quando lhe for pedido que avance um certo numero de estações, a estação onde está não conta para esse efeito.

Sugiro que faça o percurso de metro e não de carro, vai poupar tempo e dinheiro. Se tudo correr bem, vai conseguir chegar ao local final em menos de uma hora.

Para andar no metro vai ter que adquirir um bilhete chamado "Andante", este bilhete é carregado com o numero de viagens que quiser, quando acabarem não o deite fora, pode voltar a carrega-lo com mais viagens. O percurso desta cache é dentro da zona 2, a mais barata.

Para viajar tem que validar o "Andante" nas máquinas existentes nas estações, depois disto pode viajar por uma hora nas linhas que quiser. Sempre que mudar de linha ou inverter o sentido da viagem tem que voltar a validar o bilhete. Se o tempo decorrido não ultrapassar uma hora não lhe vai descontar mais viagens. Para esta cache vai gastar duas viagens uma para a ida e outra para a volta.

Se os seus cálculos o levarem ao local certo vai ter que pedir permissão para entrar ao segurança, não se preocupe o acesso é livre e gratuito e nunca lhe será barrada a entrada. O horário para visitas é das 9h00 às 17h30 todos os dias da semana.

The Cache

To reach the final cache you are going to visit by order of presentation a series of virtual caches and answer some simple questions. A value and a route to follow will correspond to each answer. The value obtained in each answer will then be used to calculate the final coordinate.

Whenever it´s asked to advance a certain number of stations, the station where you are doesn't count for that fact.

It´s advisible to make all the route by subway and not by car, it will be cheapier and it will take less time. If all goes well you will reach the final cache in less than an hour.

To travel by subway you need to buy a ticket called "Andante", this ticket is loaded with a certain number of trips, if you use all the trips don't throw your "Andante" away, you can allways recharge it with more trips. The route to this cache is within zone 2.

To travel by subway you must validate your "Andante" ticket in the validation machines at the entrance, after that you have an hour to travel in whatever subway lines you wish within the ticket zone. Everytime you change lines or reverse the direction of your trip you must validate the ticket again. If your travel time is within 1 hour it won't make you spend another trip from your ticket. For this cache you are going to spend two trips, one for going and other for returning.

To get the final coordinates for this cache you are going to use all the values of your answers the following way:

If your calculations get you to the right spot you are going to have to ask permission to enter to the security personnel. Don't be worried this is just a formality, the entrance is free for all, nobody will prevent you from going in. The opening hours are from 9.00 AM to 5.30 PM all days of the week.
