Let's give this cache another chance. Several previous versions of this cache have disappeared without trace, but the wonderful tree is worth yet another try. This cache is almost opposite and named after Addlestone's oldest resident and most famous landmark. The Croach Oak is believed to be almost 1000 years old and for a long time it was known as Wycliffes oak after John Wycliffe the medieval scholar who was said to have preached here. It used to mark a boundary of Windsor forest and it is said that Queen Elizabeth I once picnicked here. In the 1800s it was fenced to protect it from local maidens who used its bark to make a love potion!
Please note that the cache is not hidden on or in the tree, please do not climb it. Stealth is required and I'd recommend choosing a quiet time to do this cache.
