Tato keška je urcena predevším cyklistum, jako vzpomínka na
místního cyklistického nadšence
Christiana Battagliu (1914-1991).
Ten za svuj život ujel na kole
935.000 km a na kole (na zástavu srdce) zemrel. V nejdelším
národním cyklomaratónu Praha – Karlovy Vary – Praha startoval
celkem 25x, což je nikým neprekonaný rekord. Nikdy ho však
nevyhrál, ani žádný jiný prestižní závod, kterých absolvoval
nespocet. Presto se stal legendou a Ota Pavel venoval jemu a jeho
sestre Blance povídku Baroni na kolech:
„Jede každé ráno do práce na kole dvacet
kilometru – dvacet z práce. Na jare. V léte. Na podzim. V zime. Za
dešte. Bourky. Za snehových vánic. Jako by porád zkoušel, co
vydrží. Narazil nekolikrát ve tme na zver. Mockrát spadl a stejne
tolikrát vstal. Byl jsem na zámku, když vstával v pet hodin do
práce. Ukrutne nadával, napil se studeného kafe, pak ze džberu
ješte cisté vody a vzal si kus chleba. Vyvedl kolo pred zámek,
rozkýval se nad sedlem a už se neohlédl, ani nezamával. Nerozloucil
se. Je svuj jako reka nebo vítr. Zrejme každý den je pro neho
sportovním utkáním. V žilách mu tece asi místo krve cyklistický
sport. Sport: prekonávat neco, a ne vždy nekoho. Zúcastnit se, jak
ríkal jiný baron, Pierre de Coubertin, a nikoli jen –
vítezit.“

This cache is established for bikers mostly, in the memory of
the great cycling enthusiast
baron Christian Battaglia (1914-1991).
He managed to ride 935.000 km on
the bike, the distance moved is just overwhelming. Coincidentally
he died taking a ride on heart stroke . He took part 25 x in the
longest national bike marathon Prague – Karlovy Vary – Prague,
which means an unbeatable record. He never won that race, neither
any other prestigious race, but participated in numberless of
them.Despite it he became a legend and one of the top-rated czech
writers of the last century Ota Pavel dedicated to him and his
sister Blanka short story in one of his books, called Barons on
bicycles: "He rides his bike every morning
20 kilometres to work and 20 kilometres to get back home. In
spring. In summer. In autumn. In winter. In the rain. In the storm.
In the snow-storm. As it were to prove what he can stand. He
encountred several times wild animals during his night rides as
well. He tumbled many times and always rised again. I was at the
manor house, when he got up at five to go to work. He sweared like
a rooper, he drunked a cold coffee, pure water from the ewer and
took a piece of bread. He took his bike out in front of the manor
house, bestired himself above the seat and left. Without looking
back or touching hat, without saying goodbye. He is one of his one,
as the river or the wind. Apparently every day is a sports
challenge for him. The cycling runs through his veins instead of
blood. Sport: to overrule something not somebody. To participate,
as the other baron Pierre de Coubertin said, and not only to
win.”
In this cache to trade the merchandise in
connection with cycling exclusively!!!
